Movers in Lake Balboa
Lake Balboa is a central Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles, named for the lake in the Sepulveda Basin. Here is what to plan for when you move there, from Kobe Moving in Van Nuys.
Moving in Lake Balboa
Lake Balboa became an official neighborhood in 2007, when the Los Angeles City Council renamed a large part of Van Nuys. Under the 2007 boundaries it runs from Roscoe Boulevard south to Victory Boulevard and the Los Angeles River, and from White Oak Avenue east as far as Valjean Avenue and the point where the 405 and 101 freeways meet. To the south is the Sepulveda Basin and the park around the lake that gives the neighborhood its name.
It is a mix of single-family streets and apartment buildings, and Van Nuys borders it on the east.
Lake Balboa borders Van Nuys on the west, so from our Van Nuys base it is a short drive west.
What to plan for in Lake Balboa
Single-family streets
Where a home has a driveway and a short walk, the real time on the day is the contents, so an accurate list of large furniture matters most.
Boulevard apartments
If your building faces Victory, Vanowen or Sherman Way, a side street is usually the better place for the truck.
Near the park
Lake Balboa Park, with its cherry trees and lake, draws visitors. If you live near the basin, plan where the truck will park before the day.
Short Valley moves
Moves to Van Nuys, Reseda or Encino are short drives. You save the most time by being fully packed when the crew arrives.
Parking and permits in Lake Balboa
Street parking here follows City of Los Angeles rules. Victory, Vanowen and Sherman Way have posted limits on some blocks, so a side street is often the legal choice. On streets LADOT posts as Oversize Vehicle Restricted Areas, a vehicle over 22 feet long or 84 inches tall may not park from 2:00 to 6:00 AM without a permit, so a loaded truck should not sit there overnight.
