Movers in Santa Monica
Santa Monica is its own city, separate from the City of Los Angeles. Here is what to plan for when you move there, from Kobe Moving in Van Nuys.
Moving in Santa Monica
Santa Monica is its own city on the coast, where the 10 freeway ends. It has a large number of older apartment buildings, from Ocean Park and the Pico area to the blocks north of Wilshire and Montana Avenue, plus houses in neighborhoods like Sunset Park. Much of the city has preferential permit parking for residents, and many buildings are served by alleys.
In Santa Monica, where the truck can stop is often the hardest part of the move. Planning the loading spot ahead of time saves the most time on the day.
From our Van Nuys base, Santa Monica is over the Sepulveda Pass: south on the 405, then west on the 10.
What to plan for in Santa Monica
Use the alley
Many Santa Monica buildings back onto an alley. If yours does, loading from the alley is often easier than the street. Check that the alley is wide enough and not blocked by bins on move day.
Permit parking zones
Large parts of the city have resident permit parking. Check the signs on your block and ask the City of Santa Monica about temporary parking options for a moving truck.
Older apartment buildings
Many buildings are two or three story walk-ups without elevators. Tell us your floor and the stairs, inside and out.
Weekend beach traffic
Summer weekends bring heavy traffic near the beach, Main Street and the Third Street Promenade. A weekday or an early start makes the move smoother.

Santa Monica moving questions
Where should the truck park for my Santa Monica apartment?
If your building has an alley, that is often the best place. Otherwise, check the posted rules for your block and tell us on the quote form.
How long does the drive from the Valley to Santa Monica take?
It depends on traffic through the Sepulveda Pass. The start time is planned to avoid the worst of it.
