Moving in Northridge
Northridge is home to California State University, Northridge and the Northridge Fashion Center. Reseda Boulevard, paved in 1930, is still its main street. After World War II the area's farm lots were divided into tracts of single-family homes for veterans and their families.
The neighborhood touches Porter Ranch and Granada Hills to the north, North Hills to the east, Reseda and Lake Balboa to the south, and Winnetka and Chatsworth to the west. A move here can be a house on a tract street or an apartment near campus, and the two need different plans.
From our Van Nuys base, Northridge is northwest across the Valley, reached by Roscoe Boulevard or the 405 and 118.

Apartments near campus
If your move falls at the start or end of a semester, buildings near CSUN can be busier. Reserve the loading area or elevator early and book your date as soon as you know it.
Single-story ranch homes
When a house has a driveway and an easy front walk, the time goes into the contents, not the access. A garage full of tools and storage boxes is the item people forget to mention on the quote.
Reseda Boulevard frontage
If your address faces Reseda Boulevard or Nordhoff Street, plan to load from the nearest side street. Tell us which one when you request the quote.
Moves north or south of the 118
Northridge sits just south of the 118 freeway. Moves to Porter Ranch or Granada Hills are short. Moves over the hill to Santa Clarita go up the 405 to the 5.
Parking and permits in Northridge
Street parking here follows City of Los Angeles rules. If the blocks near campus are full, pick and hold a curb spot close to your door the evening before. LADOT is clear that a Preferential Parking District permit does not exempt any vehicle from no-parking zones or street cleaning.
