Movers in Simi Valley
Simi Valley is a Ventura County city just over the Santa Susana Pass from the San Fernando Valley. Here is what to plan for when you move there, from Kobe Moving in Van Nuys.
About Simi Valley
Simi Valley is a city in the southeast corner of Ventura County, ringed by the Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills. It borders Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles, and it grew as a bedroom community once a freeway crossed the Santa Susana Pass. That freeway is the 118, and it is the road most moves take.
The city's neighborhoods include Wood Ranch, its newest major development, Big Sky, the Bridle Path, Sinaloa Lake, the Texas Tract, Santa Susana Knolls and the older town along Los Angeles Avenue. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is in Simi Valley, and the Simi Valley station has Metrolink and Amtrak service.
Local moving notes
- Wood Ranch and Big SkyIf your community has an HOA, get its move rules early, and send a photo of the driveway if it is sloped.
- Narrow hillside roadsIf your road is narrow or steep, as some in the hills around the valley are, tell us before the move so the truck fits.
- Long drivewaysIf your lot has a long driveway or a gate, tell us how close the truck can get to the house.
- Over the passMoves between Simi Valley and the San Fernando Valley go over the Santa Susana Pass on the 118. We plan around commute traffic in both directions.

Parking and permits in Simi Valley
Simi Valley is a separate city, not part of the City of Los Angeles, so its own city parking rules apply within limits set by state law. In planned areas such as Wood Ranch, the HOA may add its own move rules. California Vehicle Code 22507.5 lets a city restrict parking of commercial vehicles of 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating or more on residential streets, but not for a vehicle making pickups or deliveries of goods to or from a building on that street.
